In February of this year, the company achieved unicorn status, distinguishing itself as the first Latin American company with B Corp certification to be valued at over one billion dollars.
Betterfly, the first digital benefits platform combining wellness, financial protection, and social purpose, officially began its operations in Peru with an investment of $10 million USD.
Employees of Peruvian companies will have access to benefits through the Betterfly platform, such as telemedicine, psychology, financial education, fitness apps, meditation, and a life insurance policy that increases its coverage through the adoption and maintenance of healthy habits, all part of the so-called “Betterfly Effect.”
Additionally, the platform allows for donations to various social causes both globally and locally, enabling users to contribute to and be part of positive impacts on global issues.
“At Betterfly, we are committed to generating impact for more organizations and employees in Latin America and around the world by providing tools for wellness, financial protection, and social purpose. Starting our operations in the Peruvian market is key to continuing our growth in the region and our commitment to improving millions of lives, which we will do in Peru with the help of our strategic partner Interseguro,” said Eduardo della Maggiora, Founder and CEO of Betterfly. “With our entry into Peru, we are taking a big step towards our goal of protecting more than 100 million people by 2025.”
Betterfly enters the Peruvian market with its strategic partner Interseguro, backed by Intercorp, a major business group in the country with involvement in various sectors of the Peruvian economy. Interseguro shares Betterfly’s vision of providing simple and accessible insurance solutions that adapt to each stage of life.
For Interseguro, this alliance is seen as a growth accelerator and will strengthen the foundation for becoming a sustainable company. These efforts will contribute to providing agile and efficient service to ensure the well-being of Peruvian families. “We continue to reinforce our purpose of making it easier for Peruvians to move forward securely. Together with Betterfly, we will provide comprehensive protection by recognizing and promoting the healthy habits of our clients, who, thanks to their behavior, will receive life insurance that grows in benefit while also contributing to social causes of their interest,” said Gonzalo Basadre, General Manager of Interseguro.
Since 2018, Betterfly has made over 3.5 million donations to food causes, more than 500,000 donations to reforestation causes, and over 350,000 donations to clean water causes for communities in need. In Peru, Betterfly has chosen the first three local foundations to impact children, families, and youth to improve lives in the community: Perú Champs, which focuses on access to quality education; Juguete Pendiente, which focuses on training in management, entrepreneurship, health, and nutrition; and Fútbol Más, which offers socio-sports initiatives that promote values and improve mental and physical health through sports. These foundations will be the beneficiaries of the donations made by employees of Peruvian companies through the adoption of good habits.
Today, Betterfly is already operating in Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, and recently announced its entry into the flexible benefits market in Europe by acquiring the Spanish company Flexoh.
