It is undeniable that governments, civil society organizations, and businesses have driven development around the world. Many even argue that the private sector is the main engine of economic growth and development. How? The traditional logic of capitalism, which involves maximizing economic value for shareholders (Friedman, 1962), allows them to make new investments. This generates economic growth, new and better jobs, taxes for the government, and, often, financial support for activities of civil society organizations.
